Rhonna Goodman, director for the School of Business Nonprofit Management Certificate Program at NYC OpCon

On Tuesday, June 2nd, New York Nonprofit Media hosted Nonprofit OpCon- a wonderful event that brought together leaders of the New York area's nonprofit organizations to share expertise and best practices.

Rhonna Goodman, had the opportunity to  introduce the keynote speaker, Paula Gavin,  in her true fashion...a combination of warmth, expertise and audaciousness!   Paula  is the  Chief Service Officer for NYC Services who was appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio to  head up the city agency which promotes, engages and supports volunteer services.

After Rhonna delivered Paula's impressive credentials which includes teaching at NYU, she then offered Paula a position to teach at the Manhattanville School of Business Nonprofit Mangement Certificate program.  Of course Rhonna received applause from the crowd. Bravo to Rhonna and to a worthwhile conference.   For more information on the Nonprofit Management Certificate program please see the program page.

The Marketing Success of Mailchimp

Today in the October 5th New York Times there was a wonderful article published about the success of a small business called MailChimp and how they accomplished this while taking the road less traveled. This usually translates to selling off the company piece by piece for huge chunks of money from venture capitalists. Then, once a few years have passed, if all goes well, the founders hit it big time and then BANG their set.  The second and less well known option is just ...

Write Your Own Career Ticket With an M.S. in Finance

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” We don’t think legendary children’s book author, Dr. Seuss, was really talking about getting a Master’s degree in Finance when he wrote “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” — but he sure delivered some great advice. That’s because every business, every nonprofit, every government on earth needs financial know-how to succeed. Think about it: marketing can grow an organization and visionary leadership can fast track it down the right path, but only a solid command of finance and accounting can ensure that an enterprise survives and thrives year after year. Career Options from Classic to Cutting-Edge What does that mean if you’re considering a Master’s in Finance? More traditionally, an M.S. in Finance means you’ll graduate with a skill set so universally recognized, so in demand, that you’ll be able to write your own ticket working...
