The Center for Career Development (CCD) at Manhattanville College offers a variety of resources, tools and services geared specifically towards School of Business students and alumni to meet the needs of future and current professionals. Our services are available to all undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Business, as well as MSB alumni with lifetime access to all of our resources.

  • Make an individual appointment to meet with a Career Counselor who can guide you through your job search, help you prepare for the interview process through one-on-one mock interviews, review your resume and cover letter, and point out appropriate job search resources, tools and strategies to maximize your opportunities.  The CCD offers two dedicated Career Counselors who meet with School of Business students and alumni, Allyson Kapadia and Christine Podber.  Students and alumni can schedule appointments with either Allyson or Christine by either contacting the CCD at: 914-323-5484 or by logging into their Mville Career Network account.

  • Attend career events: The Center for Career Development offers a wide variety of events throughout the year. We will be offering an exciting panelist and roundtable networking program entitled “Careers in Finance and Accounting” on Thursday, October 1st from 6-7:30pm. Representatives from Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, Citi and Manhattanville faculty will speak to students about their respective specialty areas of Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Wealth Management and Accounting and provide advice on segueing into these areas.  The CCD will also also be hosting an Employer Spotlight on Business program on Tuesday, November 3rd, from 5:30-7:30pm . Representatives from Enterprise, Northwestern Mutual, and Liberty Mutual will be talking to students about exciting full-time and internship opportunities. All students and alumni can register for these events by either contacting the CCD at: 914-323-5484 or by logging into their Mville Career Network  account.  All of our upcoming events can also be viewed on our website (mville.edu/careers).

The Marketing Success of Mailchimp

Today in the October 5th New York Times there was a wonderful article published about the success of a small business called MailChimp and how they accomplished this while taking the road less traveled. According to the article there are two ways to create a business.  The first is the typical way a business gets started; a young entrepreneur comes up with an innovative idea, next is the creation of a prototype along with participating in a start-up boot camp. This then leads to small investors hopping on board; which leads to the creation of a Kickstarter. If everything works out and the product is successful it’s time for the founders to enter the haphazard mode called expansion. This usually translates to selling off the company piece by piece for huge chunks of money from venture capitalists. Write Your Own Career Ticket With an M.S. in Finance

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” We don’t think legendary children’s book author, Dr. Seuss, was really talking about getting a Master’s degree in Finance when he wrote “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” — but he sure delivered some great advice. That’s because every business, every nonprofit, every government on earth needs financial know-how to succeed. Think about it: marketing can grow an organization and visionary leadership can fast track it down the right path, but only a solid command of finance and accounting can ensure that an enterprise survives and thrives year after year. Career Options from Classic to Cutting-Edge What does that mean if you’re considering a Master’s in Finance? More traditionally, an M.S. in Finance means you’ll graduate with a skill set so universally recognized, so in demand, that you’ll be able to write your own ticket working...
